I need to respool my Zebco 33. tried fluoro on it and i fish shallow water, it got horribly frayed. i need something that isn't so easily torn up, and decently strong. what do you recommend?

A good fluorocarbon is the most abrasion resistance line you can use, save for wire leaders.

Cheap mono, on that reel you're better off to change line Real often...

Braid with a leader is probably more versatile than anything else but a zebco isn't gonna throw braid well from my experience so I'd just stick with fluorocarbons if your nit changing reels...

Fluoro is the most abrasive resistant line.  What pound test are you using?  Going to a heavier line will help some, but also increase memory.
