Nose Hooked Flukes...what Hook?

Featured Replies

Which hook do you prefer when nose hooking fluke type baits? I was thinking a 1/0 Owner Mosquito hook. Looking for something sharp and fairly strong that won't kill the action. Thanks

For a drop shot I suppose?

Depends ...For something in the super fluke a #1 or 1/0 Owner Mosquito would work ...For a super fluke jr. I would drop down to #2 or even a #4.

Not drop shooting. Just twitching sub surface. Sorry

I use a 1/0 owner wacky hook for super flukes.

1/0 will not kill the action and hook ups are not missed.

I use a Gamakatsu #221311 In-Line Circle hook. I use the smallest size they offer in that design, a 1/0. This hook is a bit on the heavy side and is forged, so it's extra strong. I crimp down the barb and have used this hook for almost all my off-bottom presentations. Very reliable.

For a Super Fluke ---> 3/0 Owner Mutu Light hook,

Even though it sounds very big it´s actually not, the hook is quite small.
