Copolymer Stretch

Featured Replies

been using mccoys clear blue fluorescent copolymer. hooked a 6 pounder a couple days ago that put up a good fight. went fishing yesterday and noticed my line is all wavy and when i fish a texas rig and lift my rod it always wraps around the top guide. is this just typical line stretch? it was 15lb test. until this year ive mostly fished braid but wanted to try something different. i do hav a small spool of sunline armilo i havent tried but i prefer the visibility of the blue line

No, your line got twisted and maybe some line memory from being wet and stowed on your reel.

Remove the lure and any attachments and pull off 25 yards or so and reel it back in with the line pinched between your fingers.

Actually stretching it will remove some of the memory coiling.

Friction can also distort nylon, copolys,eg. Higher drag slippage against certain guide ring materials, simply overheats the line. I have not used McCoys... But I have had that happen with Yozuri and Pline CXX ... No matter, I cut it out and keep fishing.

What you saw was line twist and/or memory. Line stretch is different and you don't see it in the line, you feel it and notice it, especially when you set the hook on a snag.
