Worm Hooks

Featured Replies

I would like to know if stainless hooks are ok to use with plastic worms and brushhogs. A fishing buddy told me stainless steel hooks will spook bass.

I've used them and I don't think they spook fish, but my papa swears he can't catch a fish with em. Its all about what gives you the most confidence.

Can't say I've ever seen a stainless steel hook. I would imagine they would be pretty darn expensive!

I think you mean a chrome finished hook (silver colored). I don't use them so I have no idea if they scare fish or not. I use black chrome, bronze, or red.

I have caught a lot of bass while crappie fishing with gold hooks, so I doubt a silver colored one would scare the fish too bad.

I use a 4/0 straight shank Trokar worm hook for my worm needs.

There are very few fresh water stainless steel hooks and I don't know of any that are worm hooks.

You may be referring to galvanized or nickel plated steel worm hooks? Premium worm hooks are made from heat treated carbon steel and plated/coated black or bronze for a good reason, they are less visible and blend into the soft plastics better than a bright hook.
