Travel Casting Rods

Featured Replies

I'm going to college soon and would really like to continue fishing whenever I can. I recently have had alot of interest in it. I went to Bass Pro and looked at travel rods, they had 1 telescopic and it wasn't the best at all. Way too whippy and only had 3 or 4 guides. They had  a few other travel rods, Ugly Stick, Bass Pro brand and a Diawa...but were all spinning rods. I don't even have a spinning reel. I learned with baitcast because that was all my dad had . I recently bought a Revo S and would like for it to be the reel I take with me.

I'm looking for a general purpose rod

1. optimally around 6'

2. 3 piece, will need to fit in backpack not carry telescopic is okay, just not many options

2. $25-$75

3. pereferably without a pistol grip

of course if I realize I wont find every one of these so each is a flexible choice. I cannot spend more than $100

Diawa had one rod-the arid, little long and was a flipping/pitching rod. Bass pro has one on their website that looks like a really good choice-the micro-lite but the guides on the picture look like a spinning rod.

Is there any choices that I'm missing? thanks

With that budget, yes, there´s a lot you will miss. With those specs it´s going to be even harder ( 3 piece ).

Damiki Angel X bc rods are on sale at TW for $75, but they are 2 piece.

Check with a custom rod builder. He might be able to take a one piece rod and turn it into a 3 piece for you you for at a reasonable cost.

BPS extreme travel rod or okuma has quite a few travel rod you can get around 80 on amazon or walmart.
