They aren't bad though, just drill a little hole with a 1/8 bit in the butt of the frog to drain the water out and they work pretty well.

They take on water real bad. Worse than spros in that regard and I drill all my spros.

Try heating up a coat hanger or other wire that has the desired diameter of your hole and melting it out to the proper size.  Cutting , snipping or drilling always seems to tear the plastic which leads of course to premature total annihilation.

Will the performance be affected if I do not create a hole?

If a make a hole will it take on water from thAt spot

The purpose of adding a hole is to let water out the back that's been forced into the bait from the opening at the line tie.  If the water has no place to go, it will fill up the body and the frog will sink or at the very least sit too low to work properly.
