Rod Eyes

Featured Replies

I have a Baitcast rod my grandfather had custom made about 30 years ago by a local guy down here in FL, Both my grandfather and the old man who made this pole have passed a long time ago and I just found this rod, the problem with it is that the cork has been either dry-rotted or eaten away by palmetto bugs and the eyes are extremely damaged. I've looked all over for replacement eyes on the internet and can only find tips, would anyone know a good website that I could order baitcast rod eyes from? Thanks in advance!

Mud Hole Tackle is a top rod building supplier and a FL based company. FWIW, changing guides is more involved than just gluing on a new tip top. You'll be better off looking for a rod builder to refurbish it if that's what you want.

Thank you for the help I'm on their website right now and found just what I needed! I know changing guides is harder then it looks. One of my relatives has restored a few older rods and was planning on teaching me how and I thought the rod I had found would make a nice project.

Cool, I'd just hate to see you get in over your head and ruin something with sentimental value. Order matching thread (size A) and two part rod finish epoxy at the same time.

You might want to go to walmart and buy a $10 rod to practice on. Strip the guides and re-install them so you know what you are doing before you attempt to work on the rod with such sentimental value.

Great idea Kevin. Another site is Gans craft. Com

Sorry jansnetcraft.com
