Was This A Good Buy

Featured Replies

Not a bad deal. That might be a couple bucks cheaper than what I can find it for

Dicks just had b one get one half off. So prob works out to the same as that. I just scored 1000 yard spool of red line off the bay for $40. There's definitely deals out there

I bought the same line from the same seller a couple weeks ago for $9.99. I checked it over, thinking it was probably chinese but it seems like the real deal. All the paperwork is perfect, the barcodes are correct, and nothing looks any different. I say its legit.

That price is probably cheaper than you will find in any local store.

Be very wary when buying fishing line off of ebay. A lot of fakes floating around.

I'm less concerned with counterfeits than I am with the line condition, when we're talking fluoro or mono.  Guys buy remaindered line from failed businesses which may have been sitting on a shelf for years, maybe stored at high temp, or displayed where UV light can damage it.  Then sell it on EBay.  You buy what was once good line at a bargain price to find that it falls apart when used.  I don't think the problem applies to braid however.

If mono is packaged there shouldn't be a problem.  I have mono years old in my hot Florida garage and it's still fine. I have friend brought spools down from Long Island 20 years ago and is still using it.
