Volunteer Fishing Instructors Needed

The city of Layton Parks and Recreation Department is running a Fishing Club that begins at the end of August for youth ages 6-13. Currently this position is a volunteer position, but you can use the hours towards community service (Dedicated Hunter, fishing clubs, etc.). The fishing instructors must be able to pass a background check, have a good knowledge of fishing (bait, knot tying, casting, fishing etiquette, etc.), and enjoy teaching fishing to youth. The city will provide all materials needed as well as a manual to follow when teaching the class.

Details for the classes are as follows:

     - Classes are held at the Andy Adams Community Fishery in East Layton

     - Classes run for six weeks from August 25th to October 3rd.

     - There are five classes, one on each night of the week (Monday - Friday).

     - There are 7 kids in each class.

     - Classes go for two hours each night.

You can teach one class per week, all five classes per week, or a combination; whatever works for you, we just ask that you are dependable and communicate with us if you can't be there. We do have substitute instructors if you can't be there on some nights.

Let me know if this is something that would interest you. You can also send me an email or give me a call.
