Am I Charging My Batteries Wrong?

Featured Replies

I have a 12/24 tm and 2 24M Interstates. I usually fish from 5am to 11am every other Sunday. My problem is that by 10-10:30 on a windy day, I have to be on 5 to move my boat and it will barely move upwind at that. When I get home, I put my batteries on a 1.5A trickle charger and just leave them there until the next trip (it's an automatic charger). Has this pattern put a memory on my batteries? They are 2 yrs old. I have read that they should be charged at 10A to a good boil.

Thoughts?

Sorta sounds like battery memory.... I always pushed 15 amp.... While having dual battery's disconnected from all electronics/ TM...also, it seems like on deep cycle I don't ever remember getting more than a couple years.... Only got good life on my big engine / depth finder batt. There is really good tech. out now.... At a steep price.

A trickle charger is meant to maintain a battery, not charge one
