The pond I usually fish has been an extremely tough bite for the last week or so. My friend had a bag of Yamamoto Senkos that he didn't think would catch any fish. He bet that I wouldn't have been able to catch a single fish on his 4" green pumpkin senko in an hour. I caught 6 or so the biggest being a 2 lber. I haven't used senkos in a long time, and I was silly not to. Going to buy some more...

Get yourself some Megastrike and/or JJ's and take your senko up another notch.  I pair the two up from time to time when the bite is tough.  Dip the tail in Chartreuse JJ's and lube the rest in Megastrike.

Isn't green pumpkin bad for stained / slightly muddy water? This is what I was fishing in but they were still biting on it. I thought green pumpkin is good for clear water. They also bit on watermelon colors too...

I think when someone says a particular color is "bad" in particular water situations, they are meaning in "general", but not "always in every situation".

 

So a Senko's profile displaces water and does transmit some sound. So if you were pulling it by bass in muddy water, they could likely "hear" the worm, too.

Too bad our Walmart doesn't carry those. Only had watermelon and red shad in stock. I think I'm going to use a black and blue jig in this 2 hour morning fishing tournament. I have a lot more confidence in jigs than senkos. Went to fish early this morning and senkos couldn't catch crap

I have a brand new bag of Pumpkin w/ Red Flake in 6 inch and Baby Bass in 5 inch. Was going to try them out as Whacky Rigs this weekend.

I use 4.5" the most, the bite ratio is better then the larger ones. BPS stick baits are just as good as the senko for a lot less money. In south Florida a few great colors are Watermelon red, watermelon glitter, Okeechobee, Black, Junebug, and Morning Dawn. Good luck, experiment a little.

Everybody loves a senko! Well except for me

They catch fish no doubt but when your fishing them it feels like well, that's just it, you can't feel them haha

I prefer baits you can feel alittle while fishing them...

I had never heard of the senko until I joined this forum, its just not a very popular bait up here in northern MN, so when i hooked up with a wacky senko during pre fishing, my partner gave me a funny look, first cast i had about a 2.5lber, and about 15 minutes later a 3.5lber! im a senko freak now!
