Vista View Park, Davie, Fl.

7/31/14, Vista View, 6:00pm - 7:30pm, overcast, water up.

After the thunderstorms finally stopped I went out to the park for an hour of fishing.  I walked the entire west side of the big lake with not so much as a bite.  Off in the distance I saw some action at the point between the two lakes.  First cast at the point I hooked up on a 1 lb fish, first action after an hour of fishing.  Stayed in that one spot and caught 7 more in a ten square yard section of lake.  Two fish were in the 3 lb range.  Strange night at the lake!

With all the rain, snakes were hunting the edge of the bank.  I saw three good size snakes, one parked right where I was catching  the fish.  I hate snakes, but I'm amazed at watching them hunt.  I kept one eye on him in the grass and one on my line.  A little uncomfortable!

Good report George. You pretty much have that park dialed in. Good job in finding fish and effectively reading the water.

I live in davie, and have never been to vista view park. Big into bassin. What baits do you use while out there? All weedless Texas rigs? Frogs? Wacky? Top water? Any info would help so I don't have to pack so heavy thanks a ton

Texas rigged trick worms and stick-os fished slow.  Most bites come while sitting still.  The place holds big fish but heavily pressured.  All of a sudden, there are a lot of live bait guys.  Some of these idiots take fish out of what was a super fund dump site.  I'm sure some of these guys glow in the dark.

listen to geo he knows that place well. Stick to some natural colors.

Weightless Flukes do well there also.

Went out to vista today got there late, wet my line at 11 was using a kvd splash and first cast west shore 3# slammed it released. Third cast another 3# same spot. Super hot today wind was coming from the south on the big lake. With no other bites going from anything in the arsonal. Tried using an anaconda was fishing for big girls with no luck. Wanted to fish slow but my girl and 1month old baby were there sitting at the picnic table so I felt rushed with not enough time for finesse and dead sticking. Thanks for the info. It's always tough knowing what rods to bring and what baits to try when you have never fished a lake. In some spots fluoro was fine but others I needed Braid. I just hate leaders on braid for popin swim jigs from the grass and on swim baits. Are any of you using spinning gear and light line out there of so how light? I know you mentioned slow and finesse. Thanks for the info thought you guys would want to hear some feedback from today.

Oh and I see what you meant by snakes wow tons out there. I brought snake boots just in case lol. They were high up in the trees on the west shore soon as I would get ten yards or so they would start flying out of the trees kinda nerve racking since I haven't seen if they are water snakes or mochas ins. Didn't see the gator at all. That water is gin clear. Amazing. That's why I used fluoro but heavy weeds made ripping weeds free a chore. Any other info on this body of water. Secondly I noticed on the map another lake by the play grounds is that decent at all??

John, always use baitcaster and at least 15 pound test floro.  Just too much hydrilla for anything lighter.

I usually use 10lb mono.

Ok cool that's my worm rod set up already. Cool

I live in plantation 5 mins from Davie. I will need to check this park out. I normally go fishing at Wolf Lake, a lot of people don't catch fish there but I do! I rip em with senkos.

I have fished Wolf Lake many times and lots of peacock a few years back.

Yeah it still has a lot of peacocks they are just really picky in that park. I always tell people those peacocks are domesticated LOL! Anyways that lake has some good bass. That forum called look at these beauties I caught those bass in Wolf Lake. This weekend my wife is working so I'm going to try out Vista View park, I've never been there. I googled it and I live 10 minutes away.

I'm never there on weekends only during the week.  On weekends I'm out in the glades in the boat.  I'm sure we will meet up one day soon.  By the way, water levels went up almost three feet in the lake tonight with all that rain.  Fishing was a little tougher.

Thanks for the report Geo. On Sunday I'm going fishing in loxahatchee. My dad lives up there. He said he found this very nice spot. I will take pics.

The canals near markham park have tons of snook,Largemouth and peacocks. Vista only has largest and bluegill, no catfish or snook

8 to 10lb mono does the job
