I'm planning on attending my cousin's wedding in Front Royal, VA in October.  I figured I would get there a day or two early and try to get out and fish someplace new to me.  I'm flying and can't haul gear with me so I've been trying to find guides in that area online but all I can seem to find is fly fishing guides.  My dad is the fly fisherman in the family, not me.  I'd prefer to go out with somebody that uses conventional tackle.  Anybody know of any bass fishing guides that are decent in that area?

I've been in that area working for a few weeks, I'm all ears too. I'd be happy if someone can just point me in the right direction. I've been working and staying from Woodstock on up to Winchester...any public lakes or ponds would help

I suppose I could just buy a cheap baitcasting combo at Walmart and just go give it a go from the bank someplace but I'd really prefer to find a guide since my time will be limited.

If you just want to get out on the river and catch some fish, just use bitsy minnows. They kill the smallies, bluegill, and fallfish in the doah. I have also caught largemouth and smallmouth up to 4 pounds on them. You can rent a canoe from downriver canoe company or front royal canoe company. Downriver will take care of you but gear is not provided.

Sam nailed the guides posting , if your in front royal there are a couple of amazing places you can hit up there , Lake Fredrick is one , it's highly pressured but the bass are usually memorable , fish slow , I use jigs and swim baits there and usually have pretty good luck , the Shenandoah River there has some great Small Mouth fishing in Front Royal as well !!!
