Cranking Rod Under $100

Featured Replies

Looking for a cranking rod to fill the niche of 3/8-1/2 oz medium depth divers. Don't want to spend to much on this. 7' to 7'4. Medium power.

I was going to get the BPS crankin' stick, but they don't carry the 7' medium anymore (or at least just not currently) for whatever reason.. Then I looked into the abu veritas 7' winch medium/moderate, but I can't seem to find the old models anywhere for a good price. I won't pay over 70 shipped for a veritas. Not that I don't like it, but I never buy anything that isn't on sale.

I am not interested in any micro guide rods as I'd prefer to stick with standard guide rods.

Should I wait for some of the newly introduced (at icast '14) rods to come out or are there any other rods worth looking at currently in my price range.

If you know of a site that carries the veritas (old version) winch 7' med/mod for a great price, or any other good deal on rods, please list it here or PM me.

Also, my price range is 100 but that doesn't mean I won't pay 100 for a more expensive rod on sale so feel free to list any sales or promo code deals too!

Thanks!

Mojo 70MHM can be found for around $100 (Dick's coupons, amazon, etc.)  I like that rod a lot.  The Powell Diesel for $60 at TW is pretty good too, I am still getting to know it though.

Lamiglas Excel 2 705G ($100, wait a month for a sale and it's 80-85)  is a good one to look at, Lamiglas' Fiberglass 705 and 765 blanks are "Legendary" for many crank baiters.

I ordered one of those Powell Diesels from TW. $58 to my door. It arrives today. They only have the MH, 7' model, but it's a glass rod, and I ordered it to handle the very same thing you are looking for. We'll see how I like it.

I went to Dicks yesterday and they still had a Shimano Crucial Crankbait rod after all discounts something like $80 which is a steal.

I wasnt in the market for a crankbait rod else it'd be bought!

I know you said under a $100, but I have a Med/Mod Fast custom I'll let go for $100 plus shipping. I've fished it a few times and it works great.

I use the Powell Diesel 7', but its a MH. I still throw what you stated on that rod though

If nobody else is interested, I might be!  I'm going to PM you on this.

Maybe not Christmas, but a real good deal for someone. The blank is an odd size so I got a good deal on some and built a couple as a test and the results were very good. It's 6'10" graphite, Fuji seat, Fuji Alconite guides, full burl cork w/ accents beige & chestnut wraps. Full retail probably closer to $200 pics:

How about the Falcon original for $99? They call it the Mansfield, it is a 7' medium power and made for the specific size medium diving cranks, this rod is liked by a lot of anglers.
