Wacky Worm Problems.....

Featured Replies

So I was fishing with a 5in Gary Yamamoto senko

Wacky rigged and once a fish bit it, it was gone!

I went through a pack and a half of those things, and we all know how expensive they are.

So I decided to go buy those o rings to but in the middle of the bait and hook the worm under it. I bought a few different sizes and when I got home none of then fit correctly. So I am here today to ask what the right sizes of o rings you guys use thanks!

Hopefully it works out for you. thebig1 showed me how to do it and I hope to pass his money saving tips onto others. Thus we can all have a little more money to spend on more fishing tackle. lol.

And you have a lot of real senkos ?

Because there´s a better solution, no more real super fragile senkos, YUM Dingers catch as many fish as senkos and last a lot more.

I use small, black, plastic cable ties.  Dirt cheap.  Easy to use.  Don't need any special tools, just something to cut the long end off.

I tried that first. The tubing works better. I think it works better because the tubing bends while the zip ties don't. The tubing does have to be about 1" minimum though. A 10' foot roll costs about $2.86.

You can buy O rings in bulk for a penny a piece or so.  The correct size to get is 3/8" o.d  1/4" i.d.

Hair salon rubber bands, a bag of thousands last forever and you can get them in several different colors to match the plastic.

Totally agree with this.  I usually use Yum Dingers but I was at the shop with my brother and I saw the GYCB Senko's in Red Shad and I had to see what all the fuss is about.  Well it's about catching fish...well literally 1 fish per bait.  Either they swallow it or toss that thing to the depths because so far I have gone thru half a pack and only caught 1 fish on each.  A Yum Dinger I can catch at least 3 fish before I am looking to change it out.

Buy real senkos.

Buy cheap o-rings here: http://www.oringsandmore.com/nsf-b70-orings-size-010-price-for-100-pcs/

I prefer a more compact wacky presentation versus the ginormous EWG hook, zip ties, bicycle inner tube that's exploded here recently.

Owner 1/0 wacky hook, o-ring, 5" senko and a spinning reel. I can skip that into/under a tiny opening of cover.

Good luck.

You might want to consider the BPS Stick-O as an option.  They are far more durable than a Senko and, in my opinion, have a better flutter on the fall when rigged wacky with a little bit of weight in the hook.

I have an O-Wacky Tool and O rings and have tried a ring, double ring, zip ties, and nothing worked better than a 1" inch piece of 3/8" inch tubing that you pull the Senko through and then silde the hook through both.

Have heard of guys spinning electrical tape on the center 2-3 times and hooking through worm and all. Can get the bright colors to add a bit of unique look to it as well.
