40% discount...what to buy?

Featured Replies

Ok guys---lets say you get a discount at BPS, 40%...but it is just for BPS related merchandise. Are there any crankbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, etc that are worth buying? If so, what types of cranks, spinners, worms, etc...colors?  Now, I don't want to buy just to be buying I want some pretty good stuff. Do you think any of there stuff is worth having?

It probably depends on what you want. BPS has some good lures and rods. I have even used a few of there rods there not to bad. But now I use St. croix and would never go back. So it all boils down to what you are looking for. They do also have some good crank baits.

Exactly, it depends on what you want. There's several things I would buy from there, but that's just me. I actually just got a rod from there to tryout. There's tons of baits I wouldn't mind ordering either.

Depends what kinda fishing you like. Soft plastics are my favorite, I'd get some Jerk shad , plastic worms, there's tons of appealing things to me. They have nice kits too under Bait Kits, 5 Piece rattle shad kit, Jerkbait kits, and tons of plastic kits.

It really depends on what you like to fish.

XPS Rattle Shad, XPS Professional cranks, Rick Clunn cranks, Stacey King jerkbaits, Stacey King jigs and most soft plastics.  As for sizes and colors, you are going to get as many suggestions as people who reply.  Personally, I use green pumpkin for clear to slightly stained water and junebug for stained/muddy in soft plastics.  Jigs are blue/black in stained/muddy and green pumpkin or craw in clear.  In hard baits, I use natural (i.e. shad, minnow, or craw in clear to slightly stained and something with chartreuse for everything else except red or dark seems to work well in muddy water.  As for sizes, I subscribe to the big bait=big fish theory except for highly pressured situations or post frontal conditions or ultra clear water.  As you can see, there is a reason some of us have more money wrapped up in tackle than in our cars (maybe our homes  :D).  I always think I am keeping it simple until I actually have to spell it out.  If I had to go ultra efficient, I would go with the green pumpkin, blue/black and shad, respectfully.  These will work in most conditions to some degree.  I am sure many will disagree with me.  That is the beauty of this sport.  There are no absolutes.

I would buy a Johny Morris Sig series reel if I had that discount but as far as lures and bait I would get some of their stick baits and their rattleshads.

Lucky Craft RC's and Stacey King Jerkbaits are big ticket items that you would benefit the most from.  Everyone should own a couple of the RC's.

Probably a lot of crankbaits for me, for a personal reason - I don't own enough nor do I fish them enough.  I just like soft plastics, but if I had a discount like that, I'd probably grab a handful of cranks for the hell of it and start fishing them.

The Bait Monkey would love me and the wife would kill me!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

As above, this would be the ideal time to get your rain gear.  The 100 MPH or Pro Qualifier are top shelf and hard to get at that much of a mark down.  You can get tackle on sale anywhere but good rain gear is not that easy to find.  That is unless your a fair weather fisherman.

With a 40% discount that presents a good opportunity to get those lures or line that your not familar with. If youv'e never fished a Zara Spook or Pup they have the XPS Walker, They have Poppers and SPX Fluorocarbon line.It would be a good time to get things you've thought about trying out but could'nt bring yourself to buy, That way if you dont like them your only out a little money.
