I might be getting this combo from Dick's Sporting Goods soon and was wondering what the experts think of this combo. I have never used a baitcaster and have been watching tube videos just to know what I'm getting into. Now I mainly fish from a kayak/bank and also wonder if would work well for me. It has a $20 mail in rebate, so that makes it even better lol! Thanks for any advice!

That was my first baitcaster and used it like you are planning to and I loved it. And that rebate was also a plus. I'm sure someone with more experience and knowledge will chime in soon....still kinda new with the whole baitcaster fishing.

It will work fine for a beginner reel, just don't expect it to last a long time.

I have owned my black and silver max reels for over 2 years now.  I also own a Pro Max.  Love them all!

 

If you take care of them they should work out just fine for a beginner setup.

Oh they work alright, just do yourself a favor and NEVER LOOK DOWN THE BLANK AT THE GUIDES haha
