Minnkota Adjustment Info

Featured Replies

Is there a web site someone has made out there to help you figure out how to work on these things yourself? Ive got a turning thru the foot pedal issue and just need a little guidance. It is sloppy and doesnt turn well to the right. Ive tried the cable adjusters under the bottom cover of the pedal already.

is there any grinding feel that might imply a rust issue in the cables?

I don't know of a site to send you to but cable steering is pretty simple. If the play is not in the pedal it's in the head at the rack and pinion. Take the 3 or 4 screws out that hold the cover on and watch it while you work the pedal. A common problem is the set screw that holds the pinion in place strips or losens letting the pinion spin on the threads a little.

no rust that I have found

thx, I will check the head

I have noticed that you can go "too loose" with the pedal adjustment screw. There is a point when you are loosening it where the resistance will stay the same but the pedal itself starts gaining "play" in the rocker. There can be a bit of dead wiggle of the pedal with no resistance or cable movement. For me I loosened too far and found this out, so I had to tighten the screw back up a bit.

Ive taken the head cover off and see no set screw on the shaft or just under the top gear area. Is it further down the shaft?

I also adjusted the pedal more to try and figure this out. Everything seems to be normal and no obvious wear.
