Good Bass, But One Problem

Featured Replies

found a new pond , now and has good structure, weeds too, i caught 3 bass there and missed a few,but i was along the bank and edge where there's heavy weeds, grass, moss mix ,and in that there's some nice size bass, but how to get them out of there is a problem .

the bass i did catch were say 15s and were caught in the middle on the edge of a small weed bed ,so want to get inside that major weed bed and get the bigger bass , but they won't come out of there to hit my lure , any suggestions

I'd go with a heavy flipping jig and creature. Just make sure it's heavy enough to get down through the canopy.

Toss a hollow bellied frog right into the middle. It is an excellent bait for super thick vegetation.

Both these things ^^^^^

I tinker around a pond that is the same way as you described.  Punching/frogs as mentioned by the previous posters is the way to do it.  I have a Dobyns 766 flipping rod I use that I approach these two tactics with.  Also I am using 50lb power pro as my choice of line.  When punching I am using a 1.5oz punching weight with a #5 gamakatsu flipping hook with a SK Rage Tail structure bug.  And then if I am using a frog, any hollow body frog will work fine in that situation

FISH MORE.......STRESS LESS

If its withing reach flipping can work on the bank but your options will be limited.

If its out of flipping range I'd just throw a pretty weedless topwater lure, itll be easier because its hard to fish vertical from the bank.
