So I like to stop at this small pond on my way home from work just to get and hour or so in.  I was thinking today since its so warm out - should I be worried about my plastic baits melting or getting so warm they become deformed (sitting in my car).  I try to leave my windows cracked - but there is no shade to park under.

No worries.  Many (most?) of my plastics stay in the car from Apr into Nov.  The only thing I'm religious about taking out of the car is JJ's Magic.   

z man baits don't like getting too hot, but normal plastazol baits are fine.

Leave them in their original bags if you can. Don't mix different soft plastic baits or any other plastics in a box or bag*. You should be fine. I keep most of my soft plastic packets in a tackle bag in my car year round in Texas.

 

*I threw a GYCB shad-shaped worm on top a plastic Rat-L-Trap box. They oddly fused (likely from plastic reaction, not heat). I threw some Bitsy bug trailers (which I think are Elaztech) in a bin with another brand of trailer. The Bitsy trailers melted (again likely from plastic reaction).

^ That doesn't surprise me.  Z man plastic doesn't play well with others, either.  One incident of melted skirts, collars and other plastics and I stopped carrying them.   My reply referred to my bags of mostly Rage, Zoom, NetBait, Big Bite, Havoc and SK KVD stuff.

Or..... Store them in you're trunk it's going to be much cooler in there.... They may leach out a bit

( senkos ) etc... But they should be ok... And deformed plastic worms add additional action...

They can lose their shape. Then you need to heat in hot water and lay them flat to go back to normal

 

Cranks can bulge and split too

I have a tackle bag in my vehicle always and it does ok. They can get a little weird sometimes and like leech colors on to each other. Besides for that though its usually fine. Ihave had the legs on hollow body frogs melt and get all sticky. Also jigs with banded skirts. The band can like melt or split and you skirt will just fall off.
