Batson Guides

Featured Replies

I am going to be getting some Batson Guides for on a build I am doing and I was wondering from those that have used the Batson guides what you might recommend for the ring material.

I am thinking of going with the UD Guides but not sure weather there is much difference between the Zirconium, Hard Alum. Oxide, and Alum. Oxide ring material.

Thanks,

Tommy

Tommy,

I've used both, the Zirconium w/ PVD TiCh and the hard aluminum oxide.  Both have performed well.   I can't say anything bad about either one.  There is a big price difference though.  I like the color options w/ zirconium because you can really coordinate tread, trims, blank and guides if you want to.

According to the new Batson catalog the vickers harness readings are:

Blue zirconium  1500

Ti Gold zirconium  1500

TiCH zirconium    1500

zirconium   1400

Hard alum oxide   1300

Stainless steel   500

And they state that the hard alum oxide is rated for any superline braid.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Flechero, I am not a big fan of colored guides. I myself usually use black on black. I usually only wrap the first couple guides with color and trim bands then do the rest of the guides with just black if the blank is black or what ever color the blank might be.

I just ordered enough to do 3 rods with :);)

Now as long as the wife dont get her hands on the recite when the total package comes well be all set :):o

I went with:

BUDLG Black Chrome "UD" Guide w/"H" Ring (Hard Aluminum Oxide) for the double foot guides

BFLG Black Chrome "BFL" Fly Rod Guide w/"H" Ring (Hard Aluminum Oxide) for the single foot guides

BPLT Double Black Chrome Chrome Plating with Flanged H Ring for the tip tops

Thanks for the info and Merry Christmas.

Tommy
