Advice On New Trolling Motor

Featured Replies

Hey Guys, I was out on the water 2 weeks ago when my trolling motor blew out. Its a 12v 55lb Minn-Kota Powerdrive that's going on 12 years old. Last season the lower unit got water in it and burned out the circuit board out. I had it resealed and repaired, but I've reached the point where I'm not willing to put anymore money into fixing it and would rather just buy a new one.

When I bought the Powerdrive I liked the idea of electric steer, but now I'm on the fence about going back to cable steer. The thing is I already have the mounting bracket for a Powerdrive model installed and I'm not sure I want to drill anymore holes in the bow of my Tracker. I found a few 12v 45-55lb Powerdrive v2 models in my budget ($500-$700), that will fit in the mounting bracket. My question is are there any 12v MinnKota cable steer motors that fit into the same mounting bracket? Or am I going to have to drill more holes if I wanna go back to cable steer? Any advice and/or suggestions?? Thanks

I use the 12v, ,55 lb I pilot motor and love it.

I spend significantly less physical and mental energy on controlling the boat

It has seriously helped my fishing as i can focus on bait placement. Not boat control.
