Flippin/pitchin' A Tube

When you guys are pitching a tube, do you usually use a let it fall, then lift/hop it type retrieve like you do with a jig or a creature bait generally? I would assume just like the others most hits will come on the fall?

I fish it just like I do a craw or creature bait. Just like you said.

For me, it depends on how I'm rigging it.  I rarely, if ever T-Rig a tube and even with an internal weight it will spiral some on the drop.  That doesn't make for a good pitchin'/flippin' presentation an although I love tubes, I opt for using them as a trailer to an arkie jig when doing so. If I'm pitching to grass pockets or edges, I'll weigh it internally and with very little weight. With a big tube it will fall enticingly into the openings and sit atop the weeds on an errant cast. Either way, if I don't get bit on the initial fall or the first pop of the rod it's on to the next pocket.

Yea pretty much, I use to Flip Big tubes a lot and that's a good bait to revisit because they seemingly have been dwindling in popularity since the whole beaver bait thing, Denny Brauer won the 98 classic flipping a tube the last day and cleaned up...lighter weights in brush for me... I want that bit of spiral...

All of the above. Having them tied on is step one. I like to t rig the big tubes. I fish them in whatever presentation is working
