Wake Bait

Since the Wake Bait has come up I posting a review I posted back a few years ago of the Lucky Craft Bull which is on the larger size of the spectrum.

Lucky Craft Bull (Big Unit Lucky Lure)

After a few years of setting on my shelf and finally getting the proper gear to throw these beasts I forced myself to use them this year. The Bull is known to be a Search Bait, a Crankbait or a Wake Bait, however you TopWater freaks will love it. At being 4"long, weighing 2ozs. and being just plain fat you will need a little heavier rig to throw it. It also comes with a optional prop or blade for its tail.

When I first threw the Bull I thought it was going to scare the fish into the next county upon its entry into the water. However to my surprise after two cranks of the reel I landed a whopping 10" LMB yes a 10" LMB. That in itself was quite a sight when you consider the size of the Bull and also speaks loudly to the preditory instincts of a LMB. This lure with its extra wide wobble, incredible deep knocking and rattling just simply drives them to the surface. This is why I say you TopWater freaks will love this thing.

I have given the Bull the nickname of "Big Edna" for it is just plain huge. Each time you launch it, it is just a plain trip. Be prepared if you are fishing around someone else for their reaction . Launching this beast into weed lanes, weed edges or just open water using a medium to slow retrieve will do the trick. One thing for sure is you cannot reel this thing to slow for the knocking just gets louder and louder. For the optional prop or blade i am not sure if it matters which, with everything else that is going on during the retrieve.

Even though it is a good sized lure with all the disturbance going on, they will come back for seconds as my buddy and I found out one night. Launching along this weed edge a huge explosion occured followed with a huge miss and a did you see that !!! Upon reloading to the same spot a 6.5lb'er was boated and released to our amazement.

Pros: just plain fun to fish, never stops amazing you and will catch fish of all sizes.

Cons: not as mobile as a smaller lure, will need a heavier rig , you may start to think all the rest of your lures are just to SMALL.....
