Motorguide Help

Featured Replies

just purchased a new x3 motorguide for my boat and instead of a plug the wires have terminals to hook up to a battery, my question is ,is there anyway other than cutting and spliceing the wires to get a plug hooked up to it. I already have the plug receptacle on my boat thats how my other motorguide hooked up.

i forgot to ask too, i was going to order a new plug but i didn't know if i would still have to splice the wires, and if i would still have to with a new plug i can just cut the one off my old trolling motor

You have to do this with all trolling motors. They don't come with plugs because there are multiple varieties out there. Just cut the plug off the old one and wire it up. If you want to skip the plug entirely, you could run the wires direct with the addition of a power block added on the end of the boat wires.

When you get your trolling motor up and running report back. I am considering the same trolling motor. Did your mount line up with the holes of the previous mount? How did you secure the mount. Did you have to go under the deck to secure the mount with bolts?

will do

I replaced a Minn Kota cable steer with a Terrova. I just opened the old plug, took out the ild wires and put in the new wires.

The new bracket didn't line up with the old one i matched one hole up so i only had to drill three, and yes i had to secure the bolts under the deck, everything you will need comes with the trolling motor.
