Falcon Bucoo Micro - Opinions?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I have an opportunity to buy a Falcon Bucoo Micro 7' Med/Moderate for a light crankbait rod.  It is $129.99 on tackle warehouse and I can buy this 1 for $75.  Would you recommend the rod?

Looking forward to your input.

I think they are quite good at 75... Or less... I use a couple spin rods and they are good rods @ the less than retail price.

Some people have checked their local Walmarts and have found them mismarked for like 30 bucks. The ones around here still have them for like 99.99

I bought the Trap Caster Bucoo at my local walmart for $25.00. It had the tip broken off of it but it was just the tip and not broken down the rod. I replaced the tip and the rod has been good. I enjoy it and see nothing wrong at all with this rod line. The only thing that bothers me is the foam handle on the Bucoo is much larger around than the handles on my white ice and it is tough to get use to it. This is not a knock on the rod though, just something to be aware of if you are use to small grips. Over all, yes, I would say that rod is worth the price you can buy it for. Let us know if you get it and how much you like/dislike it. Good fishing.

I like their rods and own a few but this model is one I don't use. I have one and it's on the rack with no reel. For me it's only use would be 1.5 size square bills. It's pretty wimpy feeling honestly. They're known for being overrated. My H is an actual mh by lure specs.

I have a couple and I love them! I have a heavy and mh and the mh is a little whippy so that medium might be a little light! They are great rods though!

I am probably who you are speaking of about finding one for $30.

It's not a bad rod although I have not put a lot of time into it. It's really light when compared to other rods I own. One issue I have noticed is the piece that hold the guides. That's sounds stupid but I can't think of it right now. Is easily bent and just thin metal. I had a bent guide after looking at it from carrying a couple rods together. I am sure it is pretty sensitive just based by how light it is but I have not used it really with any application that requires sensitivity. That's all I can really say since I have not used it much. I did not even need it really to begin with. But any rod that costs $100+ that I can get for $30 I am pretty sure I need no matter what it is. So that's how that went.

I went to three different Walmarts trying to find one for that price but to no avail :Idontknow:

i'd agree with all that.... i have the rod you listed the 7'm/mod and tried to use as a light crankbait style rod... but i wasn't too happy with it.  it's just too light for my taste.  i'm looking to actually get a new rod for cranking so i'll be moving this one around or even getting rid of it altogether....

honestly, i'd rather take that $75 and put it towards a rod better suited for tossing the lighter crankbaits.  now what that rod is, i'm not certain, i'm looking myself....

That rod is a niche rod, and if you have the need for a small crankbait rod it would be worth picking it up. I have a Fenwick Aetos 6'6" ML-M casting rod that is about the same power as that Bucoo. It is rated to 1/2oz but the sweet spot is 3/8oz, I use mine for Manns, Baby 1 minus cranks, Storm Sub Warts, and size 8 Rapala Flat Raps, I use these baits enough that it was worth getting the rod but the Fenwick is a little more expensive. I'd say if you use shallow diving cranks like DT-6 and DT-4 baits a good bit then grab it and it will work great for that type of stuff.

Thanks for all of the input guys.  Sounds like this rod won't work for what I want to use it for.
