just wondering what people use as far as plastic- softener- salt mixture for  there stick senko type baits.  do you make them as soft as the yamamoto or a harder so they stay on the hook longer?

Ozark tackle plastic and super salt. about 60/40 ratio. No softener ever.

M-F Mfg. or Lurecraft ultra soft plastic and Diamond fine salt. Figure out how fast you want the plastic to fall and add more or less fine salt to a specific amount of plastic (ie one or two cups).

You won't need softener with ultra soft plastic and the salt will firm it up after cooling.

Do you  think that if I melted down old torn up senkos, and repoured them into a new mold that it would work?  That plastic is really soft.  

Yes you can but you might have some water soaked up in the salt.

If you reheat, you may either want to add heat stabilizer or some fresh plastic.  I add some plastic to my old baits and that works just fine.  Also as stated earlier, make sure the plastic is super dry as moisture will make the plastic bubble, pop, and explode all over burning you and anything in your way.

Don't count on the salt to stay in suspension for the repour and you might find that the plastic becomes too soft. The color will not be the same most of the time.
