  1. I'd ask this question in the tacklemaking forum, someone there may know how to fix.
  2. I don't think that you could go wrong just going to fishingskirts.com and picking up some living image tabs. I love the bluegill pattern, almost all of the craw patterns, etc. IMO these are the best skirts out hands down.
  3. I don't know about bing, or how that works exactly... but you are right with you pay the price listed on the website (like you would anyway), then whatever percentage off that is listed for that site is credited to your account. I wouldn't pass along this site if I thought it wasn't a great thing especially because it opens myself up to scrutiny. Ebates pays. Heck they even give you $5 just for signing up and making your first purchase over $20 w/any vendor they have listed (which is most all online retailers that you can think of... I think that amazon was the only large retailer that I found that isn't on ebates. Anyway, I hope that I helped at least a few of you to save some money. Again, any questions please feel free to pm.
  4. Did anyone do this? I was on there and saw that they have a few companies listed that are 11% back right now. Like Gap, North Face, Sorrel, Barnes and Noble, Old Navy... just a few more reasons to sign up. I know a lot of you don't have much ice fishing where you are at, but I am gonna check out to Sorrel to see if my ice fishing boots are on sale yet. I hope that everyone finds this helpful and is able to save a couple bucks.
  5. http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=LMyK2mZA2fTATiG6dzN%2BJQ%3D%3D 4.5% off BPS 2% off Cabelas How it works... you sign up. You goto ebates before you goto the webpage and search there for the retailer you want. Click on whatever store you want, and goto that site and shop normally. THATS IT! They cut you a check for whatever percentage they list off of all your purchases. I know with the baitmonkey digging a big hole in all of our pockets that getting a portion of it back just for starting our shopping in one place and not another could save us all a few bucks. There might be many more places online that you can use this. This is no scam.
  6. I am a value shopper especially with hobbies. I will usually only buy on sale something that I know that I will use. I make my own soft plastics, jigs, and spinnerbaits so that alone puts them at a fraction of retail (except when you figure in all the lure making equipment... which I usually can find a deal of some sort on).
  7. did you go w/the injection style w/injector? and is Catt creek, the Kay?
  8. ebay would be a great source, assuming that the sellers ships to Canada
  9. Well, low and behold he called me today saying shipping got messed up and my stuff was returned to him. He said it will go out this week and I will have a tracking number...so hopefully this is just taking longer than expected (like by a month plus), but better late than never.
  10. It sounds like some others have had issues with LuckyinKentucky. I bought two rods, 1 reel, and a box of cranks from him. He sent the reel and cranks to me, but its been over a month and still no rods. I have called him numerous times and he only called me back once saying they should have been there by now. He will not give me a tracking number, what type of recourse do I have? I paid by money order...
  11. I'm looking to make this year my year to really devote some time to jig fishing. Been working on my own jigs with gammy hooks and living image skirts... now I want to know what craw style trailer you all recommend. Is it rage tail craw? Paca? Chigger? others? Thanks
  12. You may have described the problem. You said you are reeling up and then setting the hook. To penetrate thicker plastic leave a little slack in the line. The snap will pierce the plastic and the fishes mouth better. Woo Daves just showed this on Classic Patterns t.v. show.
  13. So I went this morning, saying I'd only buy if I got a bigger percent coupon. I only got 10% so I only picked up one thing and now I know what they have so I can plan my attack for after payday.
  14. It looks like the sale is going on for a while, but the ticket for up to 50% off for the first 250 through the door is for Sat. and then again on Sun. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow. If anyone can tell me the fine print on the coupon that would be awesome.
  15. If you are casting a dropshot it would probably be more of a problem than if you are dropshotting deep water with electronics and just dropping the line at the boat side. I know that through the Ice we jig for smelt with at least 2 hooks at different depth's tied with palomars. You can leave as long of a leader that you want with a palomer and then tie another.
  16. Go ahead and laugh, but the cheap-o walmart jerkbait's are great (I think they are less than a dollar a piece) if you are willing to drill a hole in the front and back, replace plastic bb's with real bb's (3 in front and 2 in back) and then fill the hole with a dowel that has been sharpened with a pencil sharpener and then seal with epoxy. (Replacing hooks with gammies doesn't hurt). In about an hours time you can have probably 20 jerkbaits for 40 bucks. ****Someone else created this, not me I am not taking credit**** Renegade jerkbait bodies $1 each times 20=$20 Dowel maybe $1 or so =$1 BB's under $5 Epoxy 2-3 bucks a tube $3 Gammies---shop for a good deal Feathered trebles can be tied if your going to get fancy The best lure is one that you make yourself, there are few limits in terms of possibilities and the reward is far greater.
  17. Are those "flutter" hooks? We always used flutter hooks for flukes.
  18. there's something that people who pour soft plastics use to make them float. It's a glass or fiberglass or something, I haven't tried it because of it's potentially hazardous to your health. I think it's fiberglass bubbles or something... look on the tacklemaking forum or T.U.
  19. I have gotten a ton of their renegade brand jerkbaits, drilled holes in the top of them, replaced the plastic beads with BB's, filled the hole I drilled with a dowel, sealed with epoxy, replaced hooks with gammy's... and made jerkbaits that are on par with any that money can buy. (Please not that I didn't make up this process, someone on here or T.U. posted it and it's a great tutorial if you can find it).
  20. If you decide to remove the steel balls I can tell you that you can get a real good seal by filling the hole you created with a dowel that has been sharpened by a pencil sharpener, sand, and seal. I know that I have done over some $1-2 walmart baits this way with great success. I bet the idea of mineral oil and the existing weight would work great, be cheap, and easy. Epoxy just seems like it would make a mess, throw off the balance, and make a mess. I also think getting epoxy in a little hole might get messy.
  21. I love the x-raps, but I must say that my favorite jerkbait is one of the walmart 1.99 brand ones with holes cut in the top the plastic bb's removed and new bb's put in (resealed after of course). I get the greatest casting distance from these and I can have gammy hooks on them and still own them for less money than x-raps or one of the expensive brands.
  22. Hey Mod's this would be a great user tutorial... I haven't checked maybe you have already made it happen. Anyway Thanks for the in depth, pictures included, informative and useful; Tutorial. A+
  23. split shot rig is great to get it down about where ya need it and then let it flutter
  24. a hitchhiker on the hook will eliminate the need for threading....
  25. Ever seen the tutorial on how to make one of those Walmart renegade suspending lures into a good bait. Basically take off trebles, drill a hole in the top front and the top back of the bait. Dump out crappy plastic beads and replace with 3 bb's in front and 4 in back. Sharpen a dowel to match your holes, and place in hole to fill it. Seal, paint, and whollla 25 dollar bait for 2-3 bucks total even with great hooks. There's a tutorial out there somewhere that explains much better.
