Broken jerkbait, what to do?

Featured Replies

I was fishing today with a cheap jerkbait I got at BPS last year and the bill broke off.  Now all it does is float, is it still worth using as a topwater or should i make myself a new keychain?

Make it a key chain. Don't feel bad, at least it was a cheap one. I keep breaking the bills off of the Rapala DT cranks and they are not cheap. I hit stumps and rocks when I fish my crankbaits and the Rapala DT's  are the only one I keep having trouble with. I wrote to them about it and also told a supplier who was at my favorite tackle shop but I haven't heard anything from either. They say the slim bills help the bait get deep quicker but this also makes them weak.  :'(

If you're the type who likes to experiment with lures, then by all means try it as a topwater. There's no reason why this shouldn't catch fish when the fish are willing to hit topwater.

Geez...

Quit fishing cheap jerkbaits, they literally last

forever. Over time you will whittle down a few

you actually fish. The rest are just for show.

This category of lures is my #1 "collection".

It was in a sale bin for $1.99 so I thought I would give it a try.  There are a lot of pike, and rocks with lure grabbing tendencies, in a river I fish a lot so I use less expensive lures there.

At least it wasn't a megabass vision.  I've been reading that a lot of people are having problems with them.  So far so good on the one I have.

@ bowfish 12 _ I sure hope there isn't issues with the megabass vision, I just got one and it is the most I have ever spent on a single lure.

I've read on other sites a couple people have been having issues with either the bill breaking off, or too many weights in the bait and it sink like a rock.
