BIG water, swift current, very deep and very clear. Stripers will be closer to the main current, bass along rocky areas and backwaters/eddies. You'll need heavier lures to get down to the bottom due to the depth and the strength of the Colorado River's current.

A fast sinking rainbow trout swimbait will catch stripers, largemouths, and even the occasional big trout.

One more thing, water is lower in the morning and at night because not as much power is being generated at Hoover Dam. The river can fall or rise 6 - 7 feet in a matter of hours.

How did your outing go? What was the water temp in the Willow beach area? I am going to hit Mojave for the first time this coming weekend, but still debating on whether to launch from Willow Beach or Cottonwood Cove. I would like to go for largemouth or smallmouth, but am not opposed to go for big striper either. Anyone have any suggestions?

I went today. Caught 6 quality bass. Winds made it impossible to really work most areas.
