Shimano Or Kistler?

Featured Replies

hey guys went to my local gander mtn. Friday night & looked at most of the rods I was considering.they didnt have the fenwick but I've about decided not to get it since I don't know what material the rings in the guides are.didnt like the reel seat on the 13 or the okuma & the falcon like others have said is underrated&i wasn't fond of that.i found two new&different rods that I like.I got to playing around with the shimano compre & liked it & I also started looking at kistlers&i like them too.the kistler i'm looking at is the TW exclusive pro series.both are on sale right now, compre is $82 & the pro is $98.anyone have experience with either rod? good or bad.

I know you're not looking at the KLX from Kistler but I picked one up recently and I'm really impressed with the craftsmanship on it. The blank is straight, guides are wrapped nice and clean, and the finish on the blank is really beautiful. Right now that rod is on sale for 149 or you can use 25VIPCASH for 25 off any other rod. Downside is the warranty is only one year and I've heard mixed things about their customer service. If the model you're looking at is held up to the same standards by Kistler, then I doubt you'll be disappointed. Another popular rod in your price range is the Duckett Micro Magic. Those might be worth checking out as well.

i recently bought a kistler pro series, before they went on sale just my luck, and i really like the rod. I own both dobyns rods and duckett, both of which have good sensitivity, the kistler pro is a good light weight rod i like the bait keeper positoned right above the reel seat and the rod is pretty sensitive. I bought the 7'3 heavy i've only thrown jigs so far with it but i haven't missed many bites. It doesn't have the senseitivity of a dobyns champion series or a duckett but for 98.00 or even when it was 120.00 i think it's a really good rod for that price. hope this helps

the kilter pro series rods are a steal of a deal at $98.00 you will not be disappointed !  i have h3's , klx's and just ordered a 7"3 heavy pro series  from tw for the 98 dollars , fished it today , 11 smallmouth on both frogs and some t rigged senkos and the rod is a beast , plenty of rip w/ a nice sensitive tip.  honestly if i hadn't already purchased some of there higher end stuff would buy a complete lineup of the pro series!!

The pro series is a great rod! But shimano is better at making reels than rods.
