Im on a kayak and while I dislike the recreational boaters for my safety I often will search out banks with a mudline to target with a glide bait up shallow. Even better if they're bluff walls or have deep water super close. Edit: To add, I don't believe recreational boating traffic negatively affects the bite. I can't count how many times I've gotten a bite immediately after a boat has zipped by.

I've ran sunline sniper for years for everything other than my swimbait setups. For the big baits I like 20lb maxima ultragreen or 20lb abrazx

Got another one for y'all. 16 metanium mgl. Drag star no longer clicking when adjusting. Click pin and spring aren't missing and don't look out of the ordinary. I do have a yumeya handle on the reel could that be the issue? Going to try and swapping the handle back and see if that fixes it, but if you guys have any thoughts please let me know

Lately I've been putting in time at one lake instead of exploring new water every time and it's been paying off. Just a few big ones from the last couple trips plus a bonus small mouth glide bait fish.

I'm really curious about what you've guys learned about fish behavior using ffs during those periods where the bite has absolutely shut down like during a cold front. Have you noticed that they moved deep offshore? Suspended out in open water? Tight to the bottom/cover? Are they still following lures? I'm amazed by the amount of info/feedback you can get with ffs really makes me want to invest in a setup. Not even to catch more fish just to learn more about behavior, seasonal/daily patterns, etc.

Seconding electrolytes. I don't have water super close by so when I do get to go out I like to fish as long as possible even in 90+ degree days. I'm in a kayak so exerting physically as well. I'll bring at least 3 liters of water and add electrolyte packets.

Thanks! I was able to fix it on two of my reels by disassembling the whole side plate, cleaning, and reassembling. The third reel still doesn't click when the dial is adjusted, but it's no longer slipping.

I've got a couple of older daiwa reels (Alphas 105SH, Steez 103HA) that are having issues with the mag brake adjustment dial slipping. Sometimes it works normally with positive clicking between each setting but often the dial is loose and slips and doesn't click at all. Any one have experience with this and know what I should check/replace? Thanks

Thanks yeah I keep an eye on forecasts the week leading up to the trip. I was just wondering if there were any localized patterns that tend to get overlooked by the forecasts. Like my local lake has a tendency for winds to kick up in the afternoons.

Hey all I'm planning on making a trip out to Clearlake next week and just looking for some safety tips. I'll be fishing from a kayak and I've heard the wind can get pretty bad. Is there a daily/seasonal pattern to the wind? Any suggestions on where to launch if the wind kicks up? My plans were to launch at the state park and fish around there and maybe make my way down to soda bay. Backup plan was probably Rodman slough or Braito's. I appreciate any info! I'm excited to get out there.

So this past weekend I took my kayak out to Clear Lake. Pretty much all my fish came on a chatterbait. Here were my observations: - initially had the chatterbait tied to my trebled baits rod: a 3-powered mod-fast graphite rod paired with 6:4 reel with 40lb braid with 12lb mono leader. - hook up ratio with that setup was god awful. - switched the chatterbait to my frog rod, dobyns 735 with 65lb braid and landed almost all - I'm thinking because I was fishing sitting down, and wasn't able to get the leverage of a full hookset that the heavier setup compensated for this.

Lotta nice shimanos on this page! Sweet rods all around too thehooligan how do you like those zpi knobs? I'm debating between those and some black avail wood knobs. Would love something with a similar shape but with EVA foam.
