Urchin Baits
I've fished the prickly pear and uni in green pumpkin and black, and the maxscent moeba in red. I fished the prickly pear yesterday for 6 hours and never got a bite....slayed them on the dropshot though... I'm still yet to catch my first urchin bass

Torn on the dropshot
Some days the neko hook and 1/4oz is the ticket but man when it gets tough tough the lighter 3/16oz on the medium light gets bites when nothing else does due to the lighter splash and noise.. maybe that’s my answer right there
-
Torn on the dropshot
Between the medium light with a circle dropshot hook vs a medium heavy with a neko hook… Ive used both and caught fish with both but I can’t seem to feel comfortable with one over the other…

Trick Worm Style Neko Worms
I typically go with the Nekorama with a 1/32 oz or 1/16 oz tungsten nail weight and the Geecrack Neko Hack with 8lb braid/8lb flour leader and if I need to downsize or finesse it a little more I'll use the same setup except switch to the Berkley Maxscent Hit Worm or a 5 inch Maxscent General

FFS: How It Changed Your Techniques and What You’ve Learned About Fish?
I've had it three years now.... I use it every time I fish whether deep or shallow... I was always a power fisherman and never really finesse fished but now it's sort of molded me into a finesse fisherman with a little power fishing mixed in. My #1 bait tied on year round regardless of season is the jighead minnow. When it's on, there is nothing to me more deadly... It helps me find fish more consistently and eliminate dead water more efficiently... I don't really tournament fish that much but if I did it's all I would use because you really cannot beat it on a daily basis... especially at the grassroots level...

Question for the experienced guys or pros..
I'm gonna go with a 3/16 oz tungsten drop shot weight, a size 1 dropshot hook, and the Berkley Flat Nose Minnow
-
Question for the experienced guys or pros..
So in a tournament situation most of you would go shallow and flip? What would you flip in ultra clear water? Ultra clear water what would you choose the dropshot? Lighter line small dropshot hooks and smaller minnow profiled finesse baits?
-
Urchin Baits
you got that right.. Seriously though how are you guys catching fish on these things.. I know people are.. I’ve done the jerk, jerk pause retrieve.. i’ve tried it all.. it just doesn’t click with me yet for some reason…

Question for the experienced guys or pros..
How are you triggering bass on highland reserviors during the afternoons this time of year with recreational boat traffic on the lake too?
-
Urchin Baits
Man I’ve thrown the Yamamato Uni, the Hags Prickly Pear, and the Berkley Maxscent Moeba on three different lakes up shallow and over suspended bass.. in green, black, and red.. light weight and 3/8oz weights.. I can’t trigger a bite to save my life.. What gives? lol

Jerkbaits on Livescope
I think in the highland reservoirs I fish the jighead minnow just fits things better.... Most of the cruising fish especially in the summer are in the 15-20ft range on average..... the 1/8 oz jighead seems to be the ticket if it's calm or the fish aren't moving quick.... and the 3/16 oz casts better and falls a little quicker in wind or when fish are swimming around... I know a lot of southern waters are shallower and dirtier and that's where maybe the jerkbait would shine a little better drawing reaction strikes.... in my lakes it seems you have to finesse them a little more by putting the minnow right over their heads but they get spooked really easily if you give it too much action.... they almost like to see it.... follow it.... sniff it.... and then the moment of truth they'll either eat it or turn away slowly... very rarely do they just crush it..... it happens on occasion but not very often

What do you have tied on in the summer?
Bass on baitballs - Jighead Minnow and Flutter Spoon Bass cruising bank shoreline to 12ft - Ned Rig and Wacky Rig Bass on brush or ledges 12ft -25ft - Deep Diving Cranks, Jigs, Dropshot Most of my lakes thermocline around 25ft so I rarely fish deeper than that

Ned Rigs in Highland Reservoirs
Most of my local waters hold largemouth and smallmouth bass... it's funny cause the green pumpkin seems to draw largemouth bites and the coppertruse draws smallmouth bites.... man them smallies love them some chartreuse..
