for your retired rods?  I've got some of my dad's old rods and some of mine that were retired as technology changed. Rods that caught tons of fish that I just can't let go of.  The rods dad taught me how to fish with, the Speed Stik and 5000C I got for my 13th birthday, an old Bionix and Bantam reel that was my dream combo in the mid 80's, etc.  I'm fixing up the study in my house and am planning to display these old rods along with photos from back in the day.  Anybody else have anything like that?  

The closest thing I have is an original Dee Thomas flippin' stick with no trigger.  Fenwick used to do a promotion if you beat Dee you won a rod.  My old man got it years ago, and since I like the sport's history, I've hung onto it.  That's about it.  I keep all my plaques in the closet in a stack aside from that, not much displaying here haha.

But I do have one of my first reels, a Johnson Century 100, wraped up and put away some place.

My not glamorous but certainly functional Ligntning Rod bit the dust when it cracked under a boat cleat.  Most of the paint had worn off that old veteran.  I use 'em until they (really) wear out and go to that great fishing hole in the sky.

The old Berkley Bionix I mentioned for instance.  It was and still is a very light and sensitive rod.  It was a leap of faith for me to lay down $50 at Walmart to buy it in those days.  However, it's 6' length and one rod for every presentation design causes it to not be that great at anything relative to todays technique specific rods.     

I used to have "sentimental" rods that I left on their own rod rack, but when The Hook Up Tackle had their NRX Trade In promotion, most of those rods got packed up and were traded in for a NRX 916 UBR.

Yup - I'm one of those who hold on to the old guys.  My spare room has a variety of rods hanging out.  Some are just really old ones that a dear friend gave me, one is a surf rod my dad used with an old mitchel on it.  I even took two of my retired rods, and turned them into lamps over my desk. I have a few different reels hanging out too, but I have tossed some if there was no real nostalga.  I have a couple which I will never part with like my old Shimano Bantum that I bought used when I first learned how to use a baitcaster.  (And man are they easier to use now!)

I have display reels that I've had custom painted if that counts
