Holiday Park 10/12

Featured Replies

Went out of Holiday Park today (10/12).  This was the first time fishing the area, decided to do a little prefishing for a club tourney I have next weekend.  I ended running south the L67 canal for a bit, also fished a canal which runs north (off of the L67 canal).  We caught 4 fish (3 dinks and a 3.9lb).  Started the morning fishing hollow body frogs, then followed up with swimbaits and senkos.  Hope it turns around for next weekend, but I doubt it.

Tight lines.

The canal that runs to the North, is called the Miami canal.

Thanks Lou.  Let me tell you, the water was moving!  Also, towards the end of the canal (right before it meets up with L67), there was a small path which I saw a flats boat in there fishing.  My question is, if I were to go down those paths, am I required to have a flag or something when going in those places?  I'm assuming those paths lead to some of the flats.

Yes, you need a orange flag when accessing the flats. I believe it has to be on 10ft pole also. I made one from an old ATV flag and PVC pipe. It's 1in pvc so it does bend a lil but it does the job.

If its the path off to the south west, years ago it narrowed and it made it hard to turn around.  I have been in that one.  Just don't get into a tight situation.

Take your GPS with you if you venture into the flats.  The exits can be tough to spot on the way out.

Thanks for the advise guys.  Unfortunately, I can't make my club tournament this weekend at HP, but I'll definitely keep this in mind when I do venture out there.
