Top Rod And Reel Combos For Under $200

Featured Replies

Hey bassresource community, new to the forum posting topics wise, however I have gleamed quite a bit already from different discussions viewable on these forums.

I will be in the market for a couple new mid-level and in some cases low-level(St. Croix, G. Loomis, Fenwick, etc.) rod and reel set-ups for next season. I am not trying to use these rods with a particular type of bait, however, what I am looking for is overall versatilty.

Since I will be waiting for the obligatory Black Friday and corresponding Cyber Monday sales, I have decided to receive invaluable input from those of you on these forums that harness much more fishing knowledge than myself.

The Rods sizes and action I am leaning towards are as follows:

Casting Rod 7' M F

Casting Rod 7' MH XF

Spinning Rod 6'6"-7'2" M F-XF

Spinning Rod 7' M F

Also, a baitcaster reel to go along with each casting rod and spinning reels  to match with the spinning rods.

These sizes and action are not written in stone, it just seems to be a decent start from what I have come to understand as versatile rod characteristics. I am open to any advice given my way on this topic.

IMO a MH/F casting rod is pretty versatile, more so than a XF, maybe you can look into one of those
