Rattles

Featured Replies

I was looking at buying some rattles for my Senko's and not sure what to look for (if you can buy them and install them yourself if not forget this post). If I do get some how in the world do you put them in the worm? Oh and I got some spinnerbaits and would like to put a trailer hook on there but no clue how they go on...God I feel stupid for saying that...

First off no such thing as a stupid question.  To add arattle to a senko style worm get some of the glass rattles available at Wallymart or Bass pro insert them into the end of the worm if you are wacky rigging it, you could put one in both ends.  T rigging you can insert it into the middle of the worm or the end.  A trailer hook for a spinnerbait has a larger eye on it so that it fits over the existing hook, some come with a rubber keeper so taht the hook does not slide all over the bait.  Just install the trailer hook over the original hook it should fit no problem.

Good luck,

Tom D. :)

Walmart here does not t have them. However Bass Pro probably does its huge!!

Don't feel bad, I know the feeeling. Do You have a Bass Pro Shop near by? If yes - You are OK. Buy glass rattles and insert them right after the bend in the hook. Glass ratles look almost like a needle, so it will be easy. Needle point - tip- towards the loose end of the Senko. Sometimes I insert them from the tip of the hook towards the shank of the hook - only when the fish are aggresive. Does not leave to much room for the plastic to go anywhere. Use a wide gap hook, or you will run in to trouble.

If you would like to have more noise; use a brass ratle. Any time you insert ratles in the plastic it muffles the sound, so depending what the fish what you will need to adapt to the situation.

You can also insert led weights in the senko's head. They look like nails. Just insert them from the shank of the hook tawards the tip of the hook. This will make your senko sink faster.

Good luck and don't catch them all.

Bass pro is about 25 mins from here. Think local bait shops will have them?
