I bought a zerust 3700 box and I like it. I have 4 other standard boxes and am noticing rust developing even with anti rust tabs in them.

Should I change over to all zerust boxes?

I have both Plano and Flambeau utility boxes and the best advice I can give you is to let the air out between outings. That will eliminate moisture being trapped inside and the rust that moisture ends up causing. One thing I do to prevent some moisture from getting into the boxes is to not put my baits directly into their box immediately after cutting them off.  I'll let them set atop the box for an hour or so before putting them inside.

Zerust works. And it works well. ....then ...it doesn't.

The boxes don't specifically say how long the zerust will last, nor does it say when it was manufactured, so.... when it stops working, it crashes hard . This is my experience in saltwater with my kayak. Pretty much the harshest environment for lures/boxes.

I love the zerust boxes, I just wish they had a published expected life span and a "born on" date.

I always open my boxes when I get home. The next time I fish I close them up and put them back in the locker.

I don't put the baits just out of the water back in the tackle box.

 

I drop them in my tackle compartment when on the boat or place them on the bank when bank fishing.

 

I agree about leaving the tackle box open when you get home.

 

In fact, I will take the tackle boxes, empty them, put them under the shower to wash them out and let them air dry before putting the tackle back. This removes any scents or foreign substances that come off the baits when fishing.

 

This is what I do and so far no problems with any tackle boxes, other than getting baits all messed up and moved around that finding the exact one I want can be a hassle.

If you fish saltwater always wash off your lures after useing them

I always have a bag of beef jerky with me when i'm fishing, and i just take the small desiccant packets out of the bag and throw it into my 3700's.  I've never had an issue with rust yet.

 

If it was raining on the day i was fishing I will take my boxes out and leave them open to air dry overnight.
