What variables (weather related) do you account for when you search for the bite? 

I was considering: 

Water temp

Clouds

Wind

Fronts

 

I just said fronts considering like barometric pressure and post-frontal conditions.

Under normal conditions I'm going fishing regardless.  Things that will keep me from going are steady winds above 20, thunderstorms, a cold front below 50.  Florida bass are very sensitive to sudden changes to their environment, much more so  then northern bass. They will get lock jaw !  Since I'm not forced to go fish, I can pick my conditions to avoid.

Water Temperature - No problem. Just adjust the water temps and fish accordingly. No problem.

 

Clouds - Good, depending on the amount of cover. No problem.

 

Wind - Need to check out the gusts to make sure you are not trapped by white caps on your favorite body of water. If wind is out of the east you can forget the Virginia tidal rivers as the easterly wind will hold the tide in check.  Winds of 10 and below are no problem.

 

Fronts - Bad news if you fish the day after. Will be a tough day after a cold front passes. Not too concerned with a warm front.

Also light conditions assoc with the weather and time of day..here's different types of cloudiness etc

mainly wind, followed by "clouds" but more specifically visibility....

I'll add this - when choosing where to start in the morning, knowing the prevailing wind direction / speed from the night before can come in handy.  Even if the wind has let up that morning, there may be some residual effects that dictate where the bite could be right off. 

 

Certainly could change later but it's usually worth a look.
