Dropped My Battery

Featured Replies

Well my battery fell out of my van. It was in its plastic cover. It hit the ground and it looks okay. It's a BPS dual purpose 120. I use it for my trolling motor on my bass raider type boat. It's supposed to be a maitenance free battery. On the top by the terminals it looks like it has a small drop or 2 of water. Could that be acid that leaked when it fell? Is it safe to wash it off with a water hose?

Yes it is safe to rinse it off with water. Once you do just dry everything off and keep an eye on it. You probably will be fine.

You should be fine.

My old 80 a/h batter fell out of the back of my

truck as I pulled onto the road from the ramp.

I used it a few more times before replacing it

with an AGM battery (lighter, lower A/H for

kayaking).

It did leak battery acid and I did get burned by

some. But the battery was none the worse for

wear.

Well, they are not designed to use for a basket ball, but if you had to try that, you probably did it with one of the toughest built batteries made. BPS batteries are built by EastPenn Mfg, and they build an excellent battery. As for yours, only time will tell
