Better Balance?

Featured Replies

Im looking at getting a new Kistler KLX, and am looking at the 6'9 MH/F Split grip jig rod, and the 7' MH/F Full handle jig rod. My question is, what will balance better? A rod that is three inches shorter but has a split grip, or a rod that is three inches longer but has a full grip?

It just depends on how they're made. Probably more importantly is the reel you'll be using. Some rods balance better with a heavier reel or vice versa. This is my experience anyhow.

I've owned quite a few Klx rods. Tell me what reel you'll be using.

Ill probably be using either a Lews Tournament Pro, or Lews LFS Speed spool. More than likely the Tournament Pro though. Since it weighs 6.7 oz, Which rod would be best?

Balance comes from equaling the weight on either side of a fulcrum.  Your hand is the fulcrum... you'll have to determine the rest through trial.
