How does the previous model compare to the newer red cumara?  How good is the sensitivity and balance on the black one?  Are they similar to the crucial?  I'm thinking about a medium for some lighter finesse type stuff like bottom contact and plastics (just picked up a pixy that needs a home).  Thanks for any help.

i like the first-generation cumaras a lot...light, sensitive, comfortable, well-balanced and the best warranty available. definitely a whole step above the crucials. i've tried very hard to like the new, red cumaras but every time i pick one up, they just don't feel right to me at all...tip-heavy and a little dead feeling. the handles are too small too. the black cumaras were and still are excellent, excellent rods.

Haven't fished the new cumara rods (red ones). I do have 4 of the previous generation rods one of which is the 7"2 Medium powered fast action casting rod. Is this the rod you are thinking about it or is it another model? If this is the rod then I really like it for quite a few techniques. However, I don't feel like the rod is a true finesse rod if you were trying to light line and finesse fish with light weight lures. It is a great weightless plastics rod, light jig rod, and light texas rig rod. I have even used some cranks, lipless baits, and lighter spinnerbaits/chatterbaits on the rod it worked very well. I have customized Chronarch 50e on mine and love it. Bought it for $100 when TW was closing them out, a great performing and looking rod.

I haven't used the first gen ones, but tip heavy and dead is pretty spot on for the red ones

Yes, the 7'2" medium is what I was thinking.  Sounds like I need to find a good ml for a reasonable price.  Thanks.

The gen 1 Cumara is head and shoulders above the gen 2 crucials imo. When TW had these on clearance for 100 bucks they went like hotcakes. I bought two of the reaction models at that time and regret selling them. 

Besides the cumulus, this is one of my favorite line of rods. There lightweight, sensitive, love the handle and reelseat. Balance great, and just look amazing in the sun 

 

Try to find the 6'8 medium. I use that with 6lb line for all finesse baits and works great. Plus the rod only weighs 3oz's so it will be a very light combo with that pixy...

I have 2 of the 7'-4" models and I am desperately looking for 2 more. One of the best rods I have ever used. A great jig and soft plastic rod.

I haven't used my 2 gen 1 models enough to give a fair review yet, but so far I like them a lot. I know a lot of people don't care for the new Cumaras either, but I picked up one of the rep models, a 6'8 m/f spinning model, a while back and I like it too. My wife broke the butt, so we got it fixed and its her rod now and she catches plenty of fish on it.

I have the 7'2" ML spinning Rod. Love it! Use it for drop shot and wacky rigged senkos. I've caught 100s of fish on it. It's really a great line of Ross. If you can find one grab it!

I love the gen ones. My favorite rod under $200 it was theft when they were a hundred bucks.

Haven't fished that model but trust the cornhusker on this one.

I love the Gen 1 models, I wish I could get more!  I am reserved about the newer model, but I'm surprised what I'm hearing about dead feeling.  I've heard differently from others, they say they are sensitive and great feel technique rods.  The only issue they had, that it tends to be hard to have the perfect balance. (tip heavy)
