What gear ratio should I use for flipping and pitching? I've had many people tell me 7:1:1 but I want to make sure. Thanks.

Any high ratio reel is what most people will recommend. This aids in quickly picking up slack, turning fish from cover (also aided by rod) and allowing for fast back to back presentations.

I like higher speed reels around 30 IPT, But like a lot of people are gonna say its mostly preference.

Like a broke record... High gear ratios. I prefer anything in the 7.x:1 range

7 gear with a high IPT

For flipping, I really don't see any advantage for a 7.1 over a standard 6.3 as you're working with such a short length of line and also because you aren't reeling line in for each flip.  For pitching, if nothing else, it (7.1) gets your line in faster and that translates to more casts.

Thanks guys.

Broken record time. I like 7.3:1 for both.
