Jointed Suspending Shad Rap

Featured Replies

I was dock hopping this morning and cast this lure running it very slowly and pausing it for a long time. I caught a 4 lb. bass and a bunch of crappie. This lure has become one of my cold water favorites I use the small one that is blue and white with an orange belly.

Great news, I just bought that exact lure, I think. Is it a #5?  I have a friend who use it almost exclusively.  The lake he fishes has a mix of bass and crappie, and, as you have found, it catches both.  BTW, he says the 7 is not nearly as effective.

I never have any luck with the jointed shad raps. In fact, they're all in my box "lures that don't work".

Now the standard shad raps is a completely different story.

Shad Raps are a great lure for cold water bass and walleye.

That lure in #5 and #7 yellow perch worked like a charm on the CT river for just about everything including pike and bass.  Seems to be an east coast thing.
