Need Help Picking A Rod To Pair Up With My Lews Tournament Pro

Featured Replies

I need help picking a rod to pair up with my Lews Tournament Pro im fishing about everything on it  don't know my exact price but nothing more then $200

I recently paired a duckett micro magic 7 MH with my lews tourney pro and its awesome, Im really pleased with it.  Lightweight, balanced and really smooth due to the reel and the alconite micro guides on the rod, it also cast better than anything else in my 30 years of bass fishing.  I like how duckett rod tips "load up" the weight of the lure and fire them with little effort on my arms and shoulders.  Its similar to a bunting motion in baseball.  If you try one I think you will be pleased.

I have mine paired with a Abu Garcia Veritas 7ft Medium/fast rod and love it.  I actually have all my reels paired with Veritas rods.  They have great sensitivity and durability for a $100 dollar rod.

Lews also has a new rod out that is supposed to be very nice  the Custom Speed Stick Series

I'd look at the St. Croix Avid lineup. If you're looking for a great all around rod I'd pick up either a M power/fast action or MH/F. Pick the rod that closest relates to the baits you throw the most. If they are on the lighter side go with the Medium power and if they are a little heavier go for the MH. As far as length goes, pick a length that feels right to you.

If an avid is on the table, I would go with that. Great rod. 7 ft  MH.

Yeah, a 7' Avid in either M/F or MH/F would be your best choice.

Powell max 3d or powell inferno

What baits and line test are you going to be throwing with your new rod and reel setup?

I suggest you consider "rod specific" applications to pair with the gear ratio of your reel.

KLX. Got that exact combo last week, it is amazing.

+1

I put my Tournament Pro on a new KLX and the whole rig is so light it's startling!  I LOVE it.

Tight lines,

Bob

I would say stupid bait monkey, but I'm thinking you didn't mind it too much after you got your LTB. I love those blue sticks!
