Local high school in my area, Monacan High School, played Lake Taylor last night for the state football championship and after a hard fought battle lead 14-12 as the game was winding down.

 

Lake Taylor lined up for a field goal as time was running out and Monacan blocked the kick and then ran off the field celebrating.

 

Only problem is that the ball did not go across the line of scrimmage and was still alive.

 

So a Lake Taylor guy picked it up and ran it into the endzone for a touchdown.

 

Final score:  Lake Taylor 19 Monacan 14

 

Bummer of the highest degree.

It would suck losing like that!

Your title says it all. Unfortunately Monacan H.S. became so laser focused on attempting to block, that they failed to remember the basic rules of the game. I am sure the Coach was going ape s?>@ !! If he was celebrating with them then you know where the problem is. When I coached high school i always told my players, the fundamentals can/will win or lose you a game.
