Any Advice On Storing A Kayak With An Apartment

Featured Replies

Hopefully this is the right place to ask, but, has anyone had experience with having to store their kayak somewhere when they were living in an apartment?

My place is a decent size, but of course my Hobie Pro Angler 12' is just a little bulky and takes up a lot of space. I have thought about just maybe buying those large storage hooks and putting it up on a wall?

Anything helps.

Your appartment rules may limit choices but anything in the overhead will help a lot.  One thing to remmeber is that you need to have a broad holding system.  hanging the entire weight on two points/straps may cause sagging or deformation of your yak.  I got some eyes from harbor freght and make a tarp to support a large portion of the bottom while hanging it from the celing.  I did this in my garage so i dont know if you have a place inside your appartment to do this or not.

if you have a garage unit with the apartment, you could hang it there.

if not, that's going to be a little tricky.

in my previous townhome i hung mine on a wall in the garage, which you could do in a room if you wanted.  I used Rubbermaid FastTrack Garage storage system and it worked like a charm.  it seems a little flimsy in hand in the store, but i could do pull ups on the thing with no problem.
