Pouring Plastic Lures

Featured Replies

Could someone give me some information or a link about what is required (products and quantities) to pour your own plastic lures?  I'm very interested, but would like to know what is all involved.  Can you very the hardness of the plastic, and is it easy to mix and create your own colors?

How about safety wise, is it harmful?  What is required for space to pour your own lures.

Thanks from a luremaker wannabe.

The two big safety issues imo, is possibly burning yourself, and you have to have good ventilation. Those fumes can make you puke.

You can vary the harness of the baits with the amount of softener you put it. As for amounts, it depends on what type of bait you are pouring, ingredients and color recipes can be found anywhere on line.

Basically there are 3 types of plastic, hard(saltwater) soft and super soft. The soft material is slightly softer than standard Berkey, Zoom baits, while the super soft is VERY soft. Either work well for worms, with the sandard soft better for trailers and craws. ANY of the materials can be hardened or softened, or make more floatant.
