Lew's Bb1Hlz Handle

Featured Replies

I was fooling around on their site and found carbon fiber handles. Kinda expensive. Is it worth the money for the weigh loss on an already light reel?

It's not always about the weight savings. It doesn't hurt though. Some like the look of it and you also can get them in different lengths from certain companies. 80-100mm Believe it or not the Lews handle is really not expensive. Buy a handle for a Daiwa. Looking at $100+ for most aftermarket choices. ZPI's are $130 ish

Stupid prices. It's not that big of an issue for me. I'm happy with what I have. Considering a carbonlite rod, so if it'll save me an oz or so, I'll consider it.

Handles don't weigh a lot to begin with. You might shave an estimated 1/4oz off the reels total weight if you had a tank of a handle factory. There's also times where the stock handle weighs only a few grams more than a cf one. For me it's a cosmetic thing, and some of my reels came with 80mm handles. I'm not a fan of them and I prefer 90-95mm handles.

My Lew's is stock. And if I'm spending the money on a lightweight rod, who knows. I might see what the weight difference is.

I know and what I'm saying is. Your stock handle is probably only a few grams heavier than their carbon fiber one. It's not going to be enough to notice. It'll just look better and if you aren't worried about the look. Your money would be better spent on some tackle.

I have two Lew's one with a carbon fiber handle (came with the bait baster wasn't add on later) and the other with just the regular handle. To be honest there is no difference other then the carbon fiber handle I believe is a little larger. It's more of a "hey look at that handle" then anything else. I wouldn't upgrade to carbon fiber if the stop one it wasn't broken/bent.
