Lizard Skirts

Featured Replies

Ok, Im having a thought....

If you have a skirt-making tool handy.....suppose while youre making a skirt, you slip the head of a 6 inch lizard into your skirt making tool, and then pop the skirt on around the lizard's neck (maybe with a small o-ring rather than a skirt band).  Then suppose you trim the strands quite a bit shorter, so as to give the illusion that the lizard has gills....

Hmmmm....

I was going to give it a name by replacing the L in lizard with a J, but decided not to.

Smart move. Us under 25 would have had a giggle. Guy on another thread was talking about the unburnt oil in 2 cycle and called it *******. I fell out of my seat.

Whats those lizards that flare their necks? Seems like it would look like one of those lol This actually sounds like a good idea. I may even try this

might actually make an awesome bed fishing bait.

Honestly, its worth a try, but I don't see it being too much better than just sticking a lizard on a jig and cutting the skirt. I've thrown brush hogs on jigs before, and it did catch fish so im not taking that away from your idea. I could see as more of a snagproof option if you Texas rigged it compared to the jig, but so are swing jigs.

After just reading the title of the thread I was thinking that you were going to say put it on like a skirt between the sets of legs.  It would look like a Hula Lizard, like its from hawaii.  Putting it around the neck like you are thinking could be cool.  It would look kinda like the dinosaur that got Newman in Jurassic Park

Gilraker made a lizard type bait in the 80's with molded external gills, as well as rattling eyes, it was named " Bubba " or maybe it was a waterdog, hmm, can't exactly recall now..

That's a pretty good resemblance of "Bubba"

Waterdog, right?

Lol, fairly ugly critters! I used them to bed fish on the St. John's at Doctors inlet, did ok with them.. At the time they had a fairly subdued action.. But, your ideal has appeal to it...
